Painting Progression

Here is an example of how a watercolor painting progresses. When painting in watercolor, you paint from light to dark. The brightest whites in the painting are actually the paper itself, so you must paint around the white areas carefully. The painting progresses by "glazing" with layers of paint until it reaches the rich colors I want to achieve. Some paintings can take up to 40 hours to complete.
